The Revenue have issued the actual statistics in respect of ROS – to the extended tax deadline of 16 November 2006.

In eNews on 17 November it had been predicted the percentages of taxpayers filing online would increase by up to 10 pts. According to the Revenue, the number of returns filed online represents over 70% of timely filers compared to last year's 65%.

In summary,

• The total number of income tax returns filed through ROS was 244,114 (an increase of 18.6% on last year).
• The number of payments made online this year was 86,843 (an increase of 28.6% on last year)
• The value of payments made online was over €2.2 billion (an increase of 57% on last year).
• A record number of returns, 31,345 were successfully filed on the last day.
