ICAI is publishing the Taxes Consolidation Act, the Stamp Duties Consolidation Act and the Capital Acquisitions Tax Consolidation Act, updated to Finance Act 2008, on-line. TaxSource is a new ICAI initiative – an innovative approach to accessing, searching and researching tax legislation on the Internet.

Our new on-line service, TaxSource, offers a searchable version of the direct and capital taxes in a fast, easy to use service, available on any computer or hand-held device with internet access. TaxSource displays each section of the legislation as a single web page. There's no new commands to learn and nothing to install – if you can use websites and web searches, you can use TaxSource.

Find the section you're looking for with a simple web search, or by entering the section number with a click of the mouse. In addition, TaxSource shows you the Finance Act changes that were made when they were made. You can see how a section has changed year by year with a single click. No need for multiple CDs or books – with TaxSource, it's all there on screen all the time.

All sections have relevant links to Revenue Notes for Guidance, Tax Briefing Articles (since 2000) and eBriefs. Access other relevant legislation by clicking on the highlighted links. Copy or print what you need. See how sections link and cross refer to each other by clicking the Chain Icon at the top of each section.

You can use TaxSource free of charge to 23 May 2008 – thereafter there will be a small license fee for usage for a year, starting at €150 for a single license. TaxSource is available at http://taxsource1.icai.ie/index.html.
