The European Commission set out a series of solutions in two reports aimed at boosting the single market. In the EU Citizenship Report, the Commission proposes measures to assist citizens exercise their EU rights to get married, buy a house or register a car in another EU country. To boost growth, competitiveness and social progress, the Single Market Act calls for action to assist market participants such as companies, consumers and workers.

Key priorities outlined in the reports include:

• Proposals to help SMEs access finance and be listed on capital markets.
• Proposals to simplifying accounting rules and improve access to public procurement contracts.
• Review of a common tax base for businesses operating cross-border.
