We understand from members that there were a number of issues with ROS access in recent weeks. This issue arose when accessing ROS using Internet Explorer and the requirement to install updated Java security. Revenue advised that the issue arose following a Microsoft Security update and a temporary fix was put in place at the end of September. A permanent ROS fix was implemented at the end of October which has resolved this issue and other miscellaneous problems users were experiencing with ROS.

According to Revenue an issue which affected File Upload for Windows XP users with Java 7 has also been resolved in a recent ROS update. In addition, updates have also been made to the system requirements and FAQs along with a link to a new application which tests a user's computer for ROS compatibility. This provides advice on what changes are required if the system fails the test. Revenue has advised that in the first instance, this should help users to resolve their own problems, but if not, this also provides a link to email the Helpdesk with the results of the test allowing Revenue to understand the issue better.
