HMRC Announce Closure of Enquiry Centres and Introduction of New Support Services
HMRC have announced that a new “face-to-face” support service for taxpayers classed as needing extra help will be rolled out across the UK in May this year. However, it should be noted that thereafter, the remaining current HMRC Enquiry Centre network in the UK will close.
The service is being introduced after what HMRC refer to as a successful seven-month trial in the North East of England and will provide expert advisers “to resolve issues on the phone in depth, in one go”. It will also provide mobile adviser support at a range of convenient locations for those who need a face-to-face appointment.
For those who need a personal appointment, HMRC’s mobile advisers will meet them at a range of venues – from government and community buildings to a person’s own home or business – at a time that suits them.
