Revenue publishes headline results for 2016
Revenue has published preliminary results for 2016 which include data on tax collected, compliance rates, outcomes from compliance and enforcement interventions, number of customer contacts and resources deployed.
Revenue noted that timely voluntary compliance remains strong and it intends to expand its online services throughout 2017. 537,183 compliance interventions were completed during 2016 which yielded €555 million. There were 17 criminal convictions for serious tax and duty offences with 372 settlements being published on the List of Tax Defaulters. 40 settlements related to tax avoidance with a resulting yield of €10 million. 10,886 instalment arrangements were entered into with Revenue, up from 8,494 in 2015 with a total value of €103 million.
