Revenue publishes headline results for 2017

Revenue has published preliminary results for 2017 which include data on tax collected, compliance rates, outcomes from compliance and enforcement interventions, number of customer contacts and resources deployed. The end of December 2017 exchequer records published last week show that tax receipts collected during the year of €50.7 billion is at an historic high with most of the tax being taken in from workers in the country.

Revenue noted that timely voluntary compliance remains strong and acknowledged the effort of taxpayers and practitioners. 646,633 compliance interventions were completed during 2017 which yielded €492 million. In comparison, during 2016, Revenue undertook 537,183 compliance interventions and yielded €555 million. There were 24 criminal convictions for serious tax and duty offences with 301 settlements being published on the List of Tax Defaulters. €83.8 million was received from 2,786 disclosures as part of the offshore disclosure settlement regime. 10,203 installment arrangements were entered into with Revenue with a total value of €93 million.
