Australia considers a digital tax
The Australian Government has launched a public consultation exploring options to move towards tax rules designed for the digitalised economy. Questions posed in the consultation paper include whether the existing interconnected rules for determining which countries have the right to tax foreign resident companies should be changed.
This consultation is part of the Australian Government’s work with other countries, through the G20 and the OECD, to develop multilateral responses to address the challenges across the world arising from digitalisation.
