OECD and the Netherlands discuss tax evasion
The OECD recently met with the Dutch Secretary for Finance for wide-ranging discussions on international co-operation in the field of taxation including measures to deal with tax evasion.
Pascal Saint-Amans, Director of Tax Policy with the OECD expressed support for ongoing tax reform in The Netherlands and welcomed recent measures adopted by the Dutch government to combat tax base erosion and profit shifting.
The Dutch Secretary for Finance, Mr. Menno Snel, underlined the importance of the multilateral approach led by the OECD. All parties agreed that international co-operation must be at the centre of plans to improve international tax rules, and pledged to continue working closely on the development of effective and efficient measures. The Netherlands is part of the New Hanseatic League and its endorsement of OECD led international co-operation is consistent with calls from Ireland to find an OECD centred solution to tax issues surrounding the digital economy rather than tax measures proposed at EU level.
