A number of consultations have been recently launched.

As announced on Budget day, HMRC has now published a call for evidence on raising standards in the tax advice market. The call for evidence contains important considerations and includes questions on:

• the market for tax advice and tax services;
• the characteristics of good and bad agents;
• the impact of current government interventions;
• international comparisons;
• consumer protection; and
• possible approaches to raising standards

The following consultations were also recently opened:-

• Notification of uncertain tax treatment by large businesses
• Consultation on the taxation impacts arising from the withdrawal of LIBOR
• Freeports consultation
• Tackling Construction Industry Scheme abuse
• Preventing abuse of the R&D tax relief for SMEs: second consultation
• Overseas funds regime: a consultation
