This Chapter sets out the tax treatment of “investment certificates” and “investment returns”.
This section sets out the tax treatment of “investment returns”.
An “investment return” is to be treated for the purposes of the Tax Acts as interest on a security and the return will be chargeable to tax accordingly. The section is made subject to section 130 in order to ensure that any “investment return” which is similar to a distribution will not be treated as interest.
