The Minister for Finance announced his 2006 Budget on 7 December last. The summary of tax measures is reproduced at 2.01 below. Financial resolutions, which put certain Budget measures into immediate effect, are reproduced at 2.02 below. These concern:

• The excise reductions to certain fuels – Resolution No.1
• The ending of the remittance basis of assessment in certain circumstances – Resolution No. 2
• Restrictions on the allowability of interest on loans to purchase shares in Case V companies – Resolution No.3, and,
• The new restriction on tax free pension lump sums – Resolution No.4
