Corporation Tax Harmonisation
Plans to create a common European Union corporate tax base will be completed by the end of this year, according to an interview reported in the Financial Times of 24 November with EU Commissioner Kovacs.
The Financial Times reports Mr Kovacs as commenting that businesses are “firmly supportive” of the plans, but he acknowledges the scale of the task involved. EU Member states will apparently participate on a voluntary basis. Of the EU's 25 Member States, Mr Kovacs identified Ireland, Britain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Estonia as being opposed to the plan.
