Revenue Customer Service

Reflecting members growing concerns about poor Revenue service, ICAI has put forward proposals for improvement.

On Tuesday last 25 April, ICAI, in conjunction with CCAB-I, formally presented to Revenue a paper outlining 15 specific recommendations towards service improvement. The proposals arise following comments to this Institute from our members about specific areas of difficulty being encountered in practice.

While we have highlighted the problems on many occasions to Revenue through TALC and other forums, we believe that merely making complaints is no longer sufficient – accountants have a role in identifying solutions.

Our recommendations focus on the service areas of:

  • Correction of Assessments
  • Tax Registrations
  • Responses to technical queries
  • Collection activities of the Collector General's office
  • Compliance obligations

Revenue have indicated their welcome for the proposals. It now remains for us to pursue follow up action. The full document is reproduced at 2.04 below.
