Ireland is Second!
According to a recent report, Ireland is the second easiest country to pay tax and seventh in terms of tax administrative burden.
The World Bank and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP have issued a report on the results of a survey which has been conducted as part of the World Bank Doing Business Report to look at and compare tax regimes around the world.
According to the survey, Ireland is the second easiest country in the world in which to pay tax. This finding is based on the average of the country rankings on total taxes, number of payments and time required to comply. Belarus is considered the most difficult country in which to pay tax.
However, in relation to the tax administrative burden which is measured by the number of pages of primary federal tax legislation, Ireland would be placed seventh in the world with 4,250 pages of primary tax legislation, while India, having 9,000 pages, is the country with the most administrative burden. All assuming, of course, that there is an actual correlation between complexity and page count.
