ICAI responds to Revenue Survey of Small Business Taxpayers
A survey of taxpayers in the Small to Medium Enterprise sector, conducted by Revenue, shows that four out of five taxpayers rely on accountants to tell them about their tax obligations.
Commenting on the survey, ICAI Director of Taxation, Brian Keegan said “This finding comes as no surprise. What is very encouraging for our profession is that a similar percentage (84%) are satisfied with their dealings with Revenue. This clearly shows that accountants are playing a key role in administering the tax system, and delivering an excellent tax service.”
According to the survey, taxpayers who use accountants to maintain their books and records also tend to use their accountants as a source of information on Revenue. Respondents also noted a high level of confidence in Revenue's fairness of approach. “Both of these trends are positive indicators for tax administration in a modern economy”.
