Pay & File through ROS figures increase further
Payments and filing through ROS are both up 14% on last year's figures according to Revenue. With over 74% of filers now filing by choice through ROS, Revenue's recent decision to start a process of coercion to file electronically makes little sense.
According to the Revenue press release:
“By midnight on 15th November, the tax deadline for electronic filers, a total of 279,020 income tax returns were filed through ROS, Revenue's on-line service, an increase in excess of 14% over last year.
Over 99,000 payments were made online this year, an increase of 14% over last year.
Early indications suggest that over 74% of timely filers used the electronic route this year. This compares favourably with the 70% figure achieved last year.
Online payment of tax for the year was over €2. 28b.
A record number of returns (over 37,000) were successfully filed on the last day.
The ROS helpdesk which remained open until midnight, took over 1,750 calls yesterday assisting practitioners and customers to file returns and make payments right up to the deadline.”
