HMRC have announced the introduction of an initiative allowing academic and research experts to formally propose research ideas to the department and bid for financial sponsorship.

This process is aimed at creating a wider network of experts to influence the development of HMRC's evidence base and incorporate recent theoretical and methodological advancements.

This research program along with HMRC's “Analysis” program is aimed at supporting evidence-based policy making and the evaluation of the impact of implemented policies, as well as supporting its day to day business.
