Revenue are again warning of fraudulent emails purporting to come from Revenue seeking personal information from taxpayers in connection with a tax refund. Both Revenue and HMRC have previously issued warnings to customers not to disclose personal details in emails. As readers will be aware, Revenue never sends emails which require customers to send personal information via email or pop-up windows.

The latest scam email is headed “Revenue Irish Tax & Customs” and states that “you are eligible to receive a tax refund of 734.21 euro” and links to a reproduction of the Revenue website.

Suspected fraudulent emails purporting to come from Revenue should be deleted. Taxpayers who are due a refund should contact their local Revenue office to check its status.
