Readers are reminded that a carbon tax, as announced by the Minister for Finance in his Budget 2010 speech, applies to home heating oil and gas, from 1 May 2010. Revenue published a guide to Natural Gas Carbon Tax on their website which outlines the main features of the tax and the arrangements for its administration. The application of a carbon tax to coal and commercial peat is subject to a commencement order.
