Northern Ireland Tax Policy Re-examined
The Northern Ireland Affairs Committee is to hold an inquiry into Corporation Tax in Northern Ireland on foot of the Chancellor's announcement that he will review measures to rebalance the Northern Ireland economy including consideration of mechanisms for changing the corporation tax rate.
There has been a continuing debate around the different corporation tax rates between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for several years to which Chartered Accountants Ireland, in conjunction with the Chartered Accountants Ulster Society, has made several contributions including representations to the Varney Review. A team representing Chartered Accountants Ireland led by the then President, Mr Vincent Sheridan and including Mr Eamonn Donaghy as Chair of the Northern Ireland Tax Committee, presented evidence to the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee in February of 2008.
