Readers are advised to be aware of emails headed “You are eligible to receive a tax refund” and which advises recipients that “After the last calculation of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of 286.00 EUR”. Such emails did not issue from Revenue.

Revenue never sends emails which require customers to send personal information via email or pop-up windows. Readers who receive an email purporting to be from Revenue and suspect it to be fraudulent or a scam should simply delete it. Anyone who is actually awaiting a tax refund should contact their local Revenue Office to check its status.
