Working Together (WT) Publication - Issues 47 and 48 Now Available

The latest two issues of the publication for tax agents and advisers published by HMRC in association with the Working Together partner representative bodies are available.

Issue 47 includes:

  • a summary of the top open and closed issues from the National Working Together Teams issues register;
  • an article about the results of this year's Self-Assessment filing peak; and
  • a segment about recent changes and developments across a number of areas.

HMRC also advise that following on from an item detailing concerns about late filing penalties in WT 46, this is now being reviewed (see next item for subsequent HMRC update on the matter).

Amongst other items, edition 48 includes an update about the work that's being undertaken following the consultation ‘Establishing the future relationship between the tax agent community and HM Revenue & Customs’ which took place last summer.

Readers will be aware that this project is being overseen by the Joint Tax Agent and Adviser Strategy Steering Group, of which Chartered Accountants Ireland is a member. The Institute's Northern Ireland Tax Committee also contributed a submission in response to the initial consultation; this can be accessed at http://www.charteredaccountants.ie/Members/eLibrary/Representations1/2011/Chartered-Accountants-Ireland-response-to-Agent-Strategy-consultation1/

Members should note that each edition of WT includes updates on a national and local level together with a summary of recent changes and developments which agents should be aware of.
