ROS Helpline Delays

We have been informed by Revenue that delays in accessing support on the ROS telephone helpline 1890 201 106 are due to an increased number of taxpayers calling the line.

The requirement for all VAT returns to be filed on-line along with other classes of taxpayers coming under mandatory e-filing has placed increased pressure on the ROS helpline system with over 138,000 RAN letters issuing between 30 May and 6 June. In addition, there appears to be issues with a number of digital certificates. In response to the delays, Revenue are in the process of training additional staff to man the helpline and Revenue have added an option 2 to the helpline which caters for taxpayers who need help registering for ROS.

We have also been informed by Revenue that there are problems with the age tax credit, the USC calculation linked to the High Income Earners Restriction and pre-populated information in the ROS off-line Form 11. We understand that a fix will be issued shortly.

Readers should also note that payment queries for those using ROS should be directed to a new dedicated helpline number – 1890 226 336 (international customers +353 1 7023052).
