Tax Agents and Advisers - Sending Letters to HMRC About Self-Assessment and PAYE
HMRC, in conjunction with practitioners, have devised a list of “signpost headings” for use on letters that agents send to HMRC on behalf of clients. The idea is to crystallise the gist of a letter in the hope that it will end up on the right person's desk in HMRC.
As the official blurb has it “These headings will enable HMRC to identify the broad content of a letter, decide whether specific technical input is required and allow them to make sure the correspondence reaches the right area of the department.” For those of us who live in hope, details of the updated headings are published on here.
