HMRC Goes Live with Alternative Dispute Resolution Service (ADR)
Following on from its two year trial HMRC went live last month with the ADR service, a way for small businesses and individuals to resolve disputes with HMRC.
HMRC cite the trial as proving that by using the ADR service many disputes can be significantly shortened and resolved without recourse to Tribunal. As part of the service, HMRC have created a new national team of specially trained facilitators to help resolve tax disputes. HMRC have also now published a summary of the outcome of the initial ADR trial on their website.
