Finance Bill 2014 Published
Following on from Budget 2014 on 19 March and, as expected, Finance Bill 2014 was published at the end of last month together with the usual explanatory notes and guidance. With the general election just over a year away, this is the last Finance Bill of the current government which is likely to be implemented in full before that election.
The Parliament website contains a dedicated page for the Bill and, as it progresses through Parliament, will also house other information including details of proposed amendments and links to the Parliamentary debates. The Bill had its first reading on 25 March and had its second reading on 1 April.
In many areas the Bill builds directly on the draft legislation published for comment last December after Autumn Statement 2013, in addition to the Budget announcements as covered by Chartered Accountants Tax News.
