New Tax Statements Extended to 4 Million Extra People from October

New personal tax statements issued by HM Government will set out how much tax was paid in the previous year and how it contributed to public expenditure. As a result, from October 2014 around 24 million people will receive a personal tax statement from HMRC. Some examples of what the new tax statements will look like are now available.

These tax statements are designed to boost tax transparency by showing people very clearly how much tax they pay and how/where their money is spent.

Any taxpayer who does not receive a tax statement can use HMRC’s tax calculator to estimate their tax bill and see how it contributes to public spending. This free app can be downloaded from the Apple app store or Google Play by searching ‘HMRC tax calculator’.
