HMRC have recently released a number of new manuals including a Partnership Manual, Specialist Investigations Operational Guidance Manual, Technical Teams Operational Guidance Manual, Television Production Company Manual and Animation Production company manual.

In addition, HMRC published a number of changes to its Corporate Finance Manual (CFM) to reflect the introduction of new UK GAAP. Readers are advised that the most extensive rewrite is to the section which explains the transitional adjustments that arise for tax purposes in relation to loan relationships and derivative contracts where a company adopts a new accounting policy. In addition, the Compliance Handbook has recently been updated to include a new chapter on the HMRC’s Litigation and Settlement Strategy (LSS). This is effectively the existing LSS commentary integrated into HMRC guidance.

Readers may also be aware that HMRC is in the process of migrating their online content to the main GOV.UK website. This transition is ongoing with HMRC consultations now appearing on that site. HMRC manuals are also moved to this site.

No date has yet been provided for the HMRC site to be fully migrated and it is intended that there will be a period of transition and dual running before this occurs.
