Readers may be aware of the recent issue by HMRC of what was referred to as “effective rate of tax” letters to certain taxpayers in the UK. The letters garnered some press coverage in May and June. In light of that coverage HMRC have recently written to Chartered Accountants Ireland to advise that only 421 such “nudge” letters were issued.
