Information Exchange update
HMRC have published updated guidance to support the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) Regulations which came into operation on 30 June 2014. In addition, it has also been announced that the Seychelles has committed to automatically exchanging tax information, becoming the latest country to join the initiative launched by the G5 countries of the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
A list and description of the material changes made to the HMRC FATCA guidance is also available. The updated FATCA guidance notes supersede the 28 February 2014 version.
Further amendments and additions to this guidance will be required as a result of the changes to the US Regulations. Significant changes to the guidance will be published as stand-alone updates. HMRC advise that the guidance will be reviewed to include these updates along with other necessary changes at 6-monthly intervals.
