Savings Directive to be repealed?
The Commission has released a memo detailing frequently asked questions concerning the automatic exchange of information. It contains a suggestion that the Savings Directive might be repealed, as it will largely be replaced in scope by the new Administrative Cooperation Directive.
The EU Council of Economic and Finance Ministers (ECOFIN) met last month to discuss a variety of issues, chief among these being the mandatory exchange of information.
As set out in the memo, agreement was reached by EU Member States on the Commission’s proposal to apply the widest possible scope of automatic exchange, to reflect that agreed by the G20. The memo also documents other important questions concerning the development of the automatic exchange of information.
