Department of Finance publishes detail on Landlord HRI

Supplementary Budget 2015 documents provide further information on the extension to the Home Renovation Incentive (HRI) for landlords.

Budget 2015 Factsheets published on the Department of Finance website include information on the extension of the HRI for landlords. According to the Factsheet landlords must have registered the tenancies on their properties with the PRTB and the minimum spend of €5,000 and maximum qualifying expenditure of €30,000 will apply to each property or, where a property consists of multiple units, per unit that is separately registered for Local Property Tax.

Separately a Factsheet on relief from DIRT on savings used by first time buyers purchasing a home is also published on the Department’s website. In the leaflet it is clarified that the relief is not available for self builds or in respect of DIRT paid outside of Ireland. The leaflet also covers who is a first time buyer and how to make a claim for relief to the Revenue.
