Pensions update

If someone has contributed more than the annual allowance (currently £40,000) to a pension scheme they will shortly be sent an annual allowance pension statement. HMRC guidance, tools and calculators are available to help calculate any annual allowance charge. The most recent Pensions Newsletter 65 is also now available. Readers are also advised that a number of guidance documents relating to pensions matters were recently published on GOV.UK.

Pension providers will soon be sending annual allowance pension statements for the 2013- 2014 tax year to all pension scheme members contributing more than £40,000 per year to a pension scheme. Finance Act 2011 legally requires pension providers to send these statements.
