Building our Future: Transforming the way HMRC serves the UK
HMRC have published the above document which contains an ambitious programme of work that describes how HMRC plan to transform the way it operates over the coming years.
According to the publication, in 2013–14, HMRC collected £506 billion in total tax revenues and secured £23.9 billion in additional revenues from compliance activities. By the end of 2015–16, HMRC will have made £1.4 billion in savings over the five years.
The report makes clear that HMRC face the same challenges as other government departments and big customer-service organisations. In particular, HMRC are conscious of the need to improve “customer” service levels. Building our Future sets out how HMRC plan to transform to deliver these priorities through:
- New digital services
- Changing “customer” experience
- Data-led compliance
- Transforming the shape of HMRC.
More information on each of the above is available in the publication.
