HMRC introduced a new online payment service for taxpayers paying their Self-Assessment or VAT bill by debit card. This is a trial known as a beta service which can be used to pay Self-Assessment tax or VAT though taxpayers can continue to pay by debit and credit card using the Billpay service. The new service will eventually replace Billpay for all debit and credit card payments to HMRC.
