LPT reminders

Some 175,000 homeowners will receive LPT compliance letters from Revenue. Around 130,000 concern PAYE taxpayers/pension recipients and Revenue’s enforcement of deduction at source from salary/pension payments to collect LPT arrears. The remainder are self-employed taxpayers.

At a meeting of the TALC Collection subcommittee earlier this month Revenue advised that 45,000 self-employed taxpayers will receive letters from Revenue regarding their outstanding LPT liabilities. Revenue will allow 14 days for a response before enforcement action is taken. Such action is likely to involve the Revenue sheriff and Revenue withholding tax clearance certificate. Penalties and interest will also be applied.

Further information on LPT and sanctions for non-compliance are available on the Revenue website.

Homeowners who have opted to pay their LPT for 2015 by Single Debit Authority are reminded that the payment will be taken from their nominated bank account on 21 March. Anyone who has yet to select their payment method for 2015 may avail of the Single Debit Authority or opt to spread their payments over the remainder of the year by deduction at source from their salary/pension.
