Employers Named and Shamed
In a further “naming and shaming” exercise, the Government has published details of 37 National Minimum Wage (NMW) offenders, while also announcing a £3 million increase to its NMW enforcement budget. As well as being publicly ‘named and shamed’, NMW offenders face penalties of up to £20,000.
The Government is also legislating through the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill so that this penalty can be applied to each underpaid worker rather than per employer. Therefore, penalties for non-compliance with National Minimum Wage regulations will become more financially punitive in future.
