From January 1 2016 all applications for tax clearance will be through the new electronic Tax Clearance facility (eTC). A sensible transitional period to 31 March 2016 will apply for tax clearances issued in the third quarter of this year, per Revenue eBrief 69/15.

We reported previously in tax.point that all tax clearance certificates issued since 1 April 2015 have an expiry date of 31 December 2015. From 1 January 2016 taxpayers will apply for tax clearance in the new eTC system and will be given a Tax Clearance Access Number which can be given to the person who needs to verify their tax clearance status. Public Service Bodies, taxpayers and agents should be able to check the up-to-date tax clearance status of the applicant taxpayer online.
