Ireland under investigation by Commission
The European Commission has opened an investigation into exemptions for transfer and transit passengers from Irish air travel tax.
The investigation will focus on whether the tax exemption provides certain companies with a selective advantage, which is in breach of EU state aid rules. The Commission will examine whether exempting transfer flights only, when such flights are booked in a single-booking, discriminates airlines which do not apply a single-booking policy.
