Council sets out work plan for base erosion and profit shifting

ECOFIN agreed a work plan in response to the OECD’s BEPS initiative at its meeting last on 8 December 2015. According to the press release issued by ECOFIN, the Council supports the coordinated implementation by Member States of the anti-BEPS measures to be adopted at EU level.

The Council agreed that an EU directive is the preferred vehicle for implementing OECD BEPS conclusions in the EU in order to ensure both legal certainty and proportionality in the level of harmonisation required by the Single Market.
