HMRC have announced the appointment of the new Independent Adjudicator for HMRC, the Valuation Office Agency and the Insolvency Service.

The Independent Adjudicator plays an important role in helping HMRC resolve complaints from taxpayers and to learn from them.

A refreshed Your Charter was also launched recently. According to HMRC, the updated Your Charter links more clearly what taxpayers can expect from HMRC and vice versa.

HMRC have also published the Charter Advisory Committee’s final Your Charter Annual Report. The report reviews HMRC’s performance against the standards of behaviour and values in Your Charter.

A new HMRC Board sub-committee has also been recruited tasked with holding HMRC to account for performance against commitments in Your Charter and to support HMRC in improving its services.
