Minister improves funding available to Ireland’s filmmakers

Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan announced in a press release that State Aid approval has been received for the increase in the cap on eligible expenditure per film projects that was announced in Budget 2016.

Finance Act 2015 provided for an increase in the cap from €50 million to €70 million. The credit can be claimed against expenditure from 1 May 2016 and is calculated on a project by project basis. Film relief is provided for by section 481 Taxes Consolidation Act 1997. Further details on the relief are provided on the Revenue website.
