Revenue has issued more guidance on the Help to Buy incentive, introduced in Budget 2017 which is designed to assist first-time buyers purchase or self-build their own home.

The incentive can allow a refund of income tax which was paid over the previous four years and its main aim is to help first-time buyers obtain a deposit for a home where they will live. The relief applies to purchases between 19 July 2016 and 31 December 2019.
