As announced in Budget 2017, Revenue has published a consultation paper inviting submissions in relation to its proposals to “modernise” (as they put it) the PAYE system. While the consultation paper suggests that the modernisation will improve information flows, it would also seem it will involve more effort and costs for employers.

The views of employers, employees, payroll and software providers, tax agents, bookkeepers and other relevant parties on modernising the PAYE system are being sought. The closing date for submissions is 12 December 2016 and further details can be found on the Revenue website and in eBrief no. 85/2016 (see here). The Institute will make a submission as a member of CCAB-I and welcomes input from members.
