Making Tax Digital
Making Tax Digital (“MTD”) is the project to move to quarterly tax filing for many smaller businesses. The proposals, if implemented, will mean the most significant changes to the administration of the UK tax regime since the introduction of self-assessment in the late 1990s. A joint letter from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland was submitted to the HM Treasury and a copy of this can be found here. Submissions to the MTD consultations have been made by the Northern Ireland Tax Committee and you can find details of the following submission here:
- Simplified cash basis for unincorporated property businesses
- Response to Tax Administration
