Release of taxonomies by XBRL Ireland
XBRL Ireland has produced draft iXBRL taxonomies appropriate to FRS 101, FRS 102 and IFRS accounting standards and these drafts have been approved by Revenue by way of eBrief No. 99/2016 on here. These taxonomies are significant for tax work in the context of the mandatory application of iXBRL when submitting the accounts of larger companies to Revenue. They have been released in the form of a Public Working Draft and can be found on XBRL Ireland’s website. The consultation period will close at the end of February next year.
Members are invited to review this Public Working Draft and provide feedback before midnight on 28th February 2017. Feedback should be in writing or email to XBRL Ireland at the contact details below;

This work will ultimately help companies meet their tax filing requirements. However the iXBRL mandation regime for accounts filing unfortunately retains its disproportionate and unfair penalties.
Revenue FAQs and other guidance have been updated to note that these taxonomies are accepted from 16 December 2016.
