National Parliaments object to CCCTB Proposal

A number of national parliaments in the EU have objected to the European Commission’s CCCTB (Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base) proposals. Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Malta, Luxembourg along with two chambers of the Dutch Parliament objected to the plans. The UK’s House of Commons did publish a report criticising the proposal but did not issue a formal objection.

According to a statement issued by Irish MEP Brian Hayes, the Commission should listen closely to the objections to CCCTB from national parliaments.

Direct taxation matters must receive the unanimous support of ECOFIN before such measures can be adopted. Full details of the relaunched CCCTB are available here.
