National Economic Dialogue
Pat Costello, Chief Executive of Chartered Accountants Ireland attended the two-day National Economic Dialogue on behalf of members last month in Dublin Castle. Speaking at the plenary session, Mr Costello stressed the necessity of risk management in Ireland through careful policy and planning. He also noted the importance of having sustainable goals as outlined by the UN sustainable development programme which has a goal to ‘end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all’.
Addressing the tax break-out session chaired by Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe, Brian Keegan, Director of Public Policy and Taxation at Chartered Accountants Ireland outlined the Institute’s research on customs issues and the challenges being posed for businesses both North and South of the border if customs controls and checks between Ireland and the UK are reintroduced.
