CCAB-I participated in a discussion on CCCTB with Members of the European Parliament

Brian Hayes MEP and Paul Tang MEP held a high level round-table event on the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB) with various representative groups including CCAB-I at the end of January. Mr Tang is in favour of the CCCTB and provided an interesting insight into the thinking of the majority of the European Parliament supporting the introduction of the CCCTB.

Mr Tang is a rapporteur for the committee tasked with preparing the European Parliament’s position on the proposed CCCTB. Mr Tang vigorously supports the CCCTB even though there is no evidence available to date on how the CCCTB will impact the tax revenues of various member states. A unanimous decision at Council level is required in order to introduce direct tax measure across the European Union and Brian Hayes MEP noted that CCCTB is completely unacceptable to Ireland.
